Elizabeth Allen has always had a passion for fabric, amassing piles of it while grow Up in Manchester, Ma. After graduating from Vassar college with a degree In French literature, she ventured to Paris where she landed the enviable job Of bureau fashion Editor of WWD and W Magazine. The intimate exposure to The behind-the-scenes world of French and English designers was, obviously, A jaw-dropping education. She jumped to the other side of the runway three years Later to work with Karl Lagerfeld at chanel, whose unparalleled creativity inspired her own.
Back in NYC and working as a fashion editor and stylist, the stacks of fabrics Climbed the walls of her fifth floor walk-up apartment. Looking to justify her Flea market fabric sprees, Elizabeth took to her sewing machine, walked into nyc’s premium boutique ABC Carpet & Home with a suitcase of pillows and walked Out with an order. Such was the spontaneous creation of Elizabeth Allen Atelier In 1998, which then grew from a pillow line into a complete bedding collection designed with Elizabeth’s exclusive prints. EAA is now recognized for its fresh,Sophisticated and distinctive baby to adult bedding and fabrics which are carried In high-end boutiques across the country.
Elizabeth and the atelier moved from the gritty NYC garment district to these peaceful shores eight years ago. The collection is custom made in workrooms In NYC and CA where Elizabeth keeps a finicky eye on everything and takes pride in Manufacturing in the usa, despite the challenges.
The birth of EAA the boutique was just as spontaneous. Upon spotting an empty Storefront in bird rock four years ago, elizabeth quickly took the plunge into retail. The boutique offers a vast and varied array of gifts for baby, girls and women, as well as her custom bedding. It moved to upper girard last spring and continues to thrill customers with its ever-changing assortment of unusual and affordable merchandise. Elizabeth’s most important criteria are beauty, quality and price and, from there, anything goes.
